Pemamek Ltd., a leading welding and production automation provider, has won a major order to supply production automation machinery for Haizea Wind Group, a top producer of large metal structures for wind turbines located in Bilbao, Spain.

The order includes an extensive range of production systems designed to enhance the manufacture of extremely large monopile foundations for offshore towers. PEMA automation technology will streamline and improve Haizea’s overall manufacturing efficiency.

“The offshore wind energy industry is growing and the future for Haizea looks very good. We are excited about the new production technology,” said Jos Buijks, the Managing Director of the Haizea Bilbao Monopile Plant. “This investment represents a significant milestone in our growth strategy and will enable us to better serve our customers and expand our reach in the offshore wind energy market.”

Pemamek’s delivery includes an extensive range of PEMA production systems designed specifically for thick, heavy structures over 8-meter diameter. The machinery, delivered to Haizea Bilbao’s plant, enables the company to manufacture XXXL monopiles with diameters up to 15m.

According to Bart Overbeek, Organization & Operations developer at Haizea Wind Group, Haizea values Pemamek’s extensive experience and proven technology for the wind energy industry.

Overbeek comments: “We knew Pemamek from the tower business already. Based on that, we were convinced that Pemamek has the technical knowledge and expertise to make such big projects. With Pemamek it has been easy to communicate and develop solutions that work specifically for Haizea. It is important to collaborate with the players who have the knowledge.”

The delivery is scheduled to be finished at the end of 2023 and ready for full production in early 2024.

“The delivered technology is highly capable in terms of production efficiency and quality for extremely large monopiles. Our driver is always to help the customer to succeed, and we look forward to working together with Haizea on this significant project. This contract is a strong indicator of Pemamek’s position as the leading production automation provider for the offshore wind industry,” summarizes Jaakko Heikonen, Pemamek’s Vice Chairman of the Board and Director of International Sales & Marketing.
