Pemamek strengthens the team and more specifically its power generation segment with Joonas Arola. Already familiar with the industry and its technologies, Joonas looks to fulfill the potential of the segment with a customer-oriented approach.
Welcome to the team, Joonas! Let’s start with a short introduction – tell us something about yourself.
Thanks! My name is Joonas Arola and I was born in Northern Ostrobothnia. After I received my degree (Master of Science in Process Engineering, specialization in industrial engineering and management), I moved to Tampere region and started working for Metso, and later Valmet.
I worked as a product engineer and product manager in the environmental systems department and the last few years as a sales manager in the energy service business.
I live in Lempäälä with my wife and two sons, 5- and 10-year-olds. In my free time, I ride my motorcycle, lift weights at our self-built garage gym, or work on one of my many yard projects. Overall, I would describe myself as a productive and determined guy, with a sense of humor.
What was the determining factor in your decision to join Team PEMA?
I was not actively looking for a new job – I enjoyed my career at Valmet. When the opportunity was presented, however, I knew this was something I wanted to learn more about. Pemamek is a fascinating company; Finnish, family-owned, and on a continuous growth path. I quickly realized that joining Pemamek would be a step forward for me.
Already during the initial meetings, I got a feeling that I would get along well with the personnel of Pemamek. I decided to really explore this opportunity, so I put together a proper job application, and about a month ago, I officially joined the company.
From what I have seen, Pemamek has a very customer-oriented approach in all its operations
and I could not agree more.

So, it has now been about a month here at Pemamek premises. How have you adjusted so far?
Upon joining, I looked forward to absorbing a lot of new information – and I have been doing just that. I have learned a lot about the company and its functions, and the work environment is very pleasant. From what I have seen, Pemamek has a very customer-oriented approach in all its operations and I could not agree more. Based on my experience, the best solutions come from close cooperation with the client, putting the focus on their specific needs.
What kind of expectations you have for yourself and Pemamek?
At my previous job, I worked with power plants, so the industry and its technologies and machines are familiar to me. I spent the last few years mostly in sales, visited many power plants, and saw a lot of end-customers. Now I am moving to the other end of the whole process, to the beginning of the supply chain where the solutions are actually manufactured.
Analyzing and forecasting the power generation segment and identifying all its potential is going to be the focal point where we start. Moving forward, we are going to build sales strategies, execute them, and create strong customer relationships.
How do see the potential and future of power generation as a customer segment?
I look forward to taking power generation to the next stage. It is going to take plenty of in-depth studying, understanding the segment’s current state, and then performing systematic actions. We can grow the share and value of this customer segment – perhaps first with locations closer to us. But ultimately, our potential knows no geographical boundaries! I want to see clear, measurable growth within this segment and naturally help our clients towards more effective production with our excellent solutions.
