Every year, Pemamek offers summer jobs to skilled individuals who are at the beginning of their careers. This year saw a record number of applicants, with a total of about 950 applications received for the positions, from which 40 summer workers were selected.
Pemamek has been actively participating in various recruitment events aimed at students and has met students both on campuses and during company visits.
The company’s visibility among students has been better than in previous years, and there has also been strong interest in the technology industry.
“This year, we received about 950 applications for summer jobs, which is almost 300 more than last year,” says Pemamek’s HRD Specialist Emilia Pöllänen, and adds:
“Pemamek offers a lot of different career opportunities, especially for students in technical and commercial fields, which attracts many. Career paths and professional development within the company also appeal to many.”
Attracting future innovators
Summer jobs are available both in production and in the office, mainly aimed at students in technical and commercial fields. This summer, there are many opportunities available in production, including various electrical and mechanical assembly tasks, component manufacturing, and warehouse work. A new position for the summer of 2024 is the role of project coordinator intern in the project department.
“Once again, the most applicants were for software design, followed by automation design. Software design also attracted the most applicants last spring. Perhaps most surprising was that this year we received nearly 70 applicants for electrical installation, compared to only 15 applicants last spring,” says Pöllänen.
“It’s important for us to offer jobs to skilled individuals starting their careers. This year, we also offer the opportunity to continue working after the summer, either with thesis work or internships,” tells Pemamek’s HR Manager Elina Arppe.
In the summer of 2024, Pemamek will have over 40 summer workers, many of whom will start their jobs in May and continue until August or September. Additionally, during the summer, 18 underage youths will have the opportunity to experience working life in two-week periods. Underage youths have been hired for short periods in previous summers, but this year, even more young people will have the chance to explore working life and careers at Pemamek
