Christian Beltoft to lead the sales and development of wind energy segment: “The world is our playground”

At the beginning of October, the Danish Christian Beltoft joined the ranks of Pemamek as the Director of Sales and Development of the Wind Energy segment. During his first week at Pemamek, we got the opportunity to sit down with him and ask, among many other things, what does the famous Danish “hygge” really mean.

When thinking about Denmark, the words that pop into your mind are most likely politeness, positivity, appreciation for simplicity, warmth, and “hygge”. Well, when it comes to Christian Beltoft, it is no different. His smile and positive energy are contagious, while the politeness of the Dane welcomes everyone to the room.

“Danes like it cozy because, just like in Finland, the weather can be tough at times, so we make it nice and warm inside the house. That’s what hygge means. There is a lot of other similarities between Denmark and Finland. As an example, the people are very similar; straightforward, open-minded, and kind,” tells Beltoft.

While Christian is passionate about his work, he prefers to balance it by spending time with his family and friends, but also by doing extreme sports, to be precise.

Christian’s main role is to lead the sales and development of PEMA solutions in the wind energy sector.

“If I’m not working, I spend time with my wife and do different sports, such as mountain biking, gym, or skydiving. Before, I also did motocross for eight years. So, yes, you can say that I like extreme, speed and to take risks,” Beltoft smiles.

Building and developing new markets

At the beginning of October, Christian started as Pemamek’s Director of Sales and Development of the Wind Energy segment. His main focus will be in leading the sales and development of the PEMA solutions for the wind energy sector, but also to foresight and communicate future trends and technologies in the sector that could later become PEMA innovations.

“I have a strong mechanical and technical background, but also, thanks to my previous job, I’m experienced in building new markets or developing the current one. This gives me foundational tools to work with PEMA technology, but also to help Pemamek as a company to grow in the segment, in which it has a lot of potentials.”

Beltoft continues. “In my previous job, I was responsible for developing a whole new market in Germany. A few years later, we had gained very good market coverage. When developing a new market, you need to have the ability to see where you have potential and be honest with where you don’t. Also, you need to have a strong vision and trust in what you do, even though there’s nothing concrete or visible yet.”

Going for the win

Now and then, working in sales can be tiring and even nerve-wracking. Although, with a certain set of skills, one can enjoy it and succeed in it. Beltoft lists competitiveness, determination, but also a people person as some of his top characteristics.

“I’m not afraid of competition and I always go for the win. For me, second place is just a lost first place. To get the gold medal, you need to combine hard work, clear goals, a competitive mind, and teamwork,” Beltoft describes.

The mechanical and technical background that Christian has provides a firm foundation to work with PEMA technology.

Talking about goals, a few years ago Christian set the target to work at sales development and land in a position where his efforts, views, and opinions would make a difference. Now, Christian has reached one of his goals and enjoys to start the journey with Pemamek.

“The best thing about Pemamek is that the whole world is our playground. Our customers are global, and so is our team. Despite the distances, we support each other and give help even if we would be globally dispersed.“

“Now, in this job, I can combine aspects that I find interesting and meaningful with the company’s goals. I see the future of wind energy and Pemamek as very bright with full of opportunities.”

Beltoft adds “The best thing about Pemamek is that the whole world is our playground. Our customers are global, and so is our team. Despite the distances, we support each other and give help even if we would be globally dispersed. In global companies, it is crucial to remember that this is teamwork. In today’s business, nobody can win alone.”

Welcome to the Team PEMA Christian!
