Future Makers: Akseli Åberg, Electrician

Hello Akseli, tell us briefly about you?

I come from Jokioinen, a small town close to Loimaa. I’m into sports and especially Finnish baseball. I play baseball in the second and third highest baseball leagues.

About a year ago I graduated from Forssa’s vocational college with an electricity and automation degree.

If you had a crystal ball to see to your future career, what would you see? What are your career plans?

Now in January, I will go to the army so I still have some time to think about my career path. I find the maritime industry very interesting.

You have worked for the whole summer at Pemamek. Tell us briefly about your typical workday.

I’ve done electrification for control panels that are used in large shipbuilding projects. I’ve received a significant amount of responsibility which has been very rewarding.

How was it to enter the company? How people welcomed you?

On my first day of course I was nervous, but everyone welcomed me well to the company. My colleagues are great and my supervisor, Janne Hakala, has been excellent.

What took you to apply to work at Pemamek?

I have enjoyed working at Pemamek a lot. Tasks and work have been interesting. Pemamek is a very good place to work at.

How did you end up working for Pemamek?

I was looking for job opportunities and decided to contact Pemamek by phone. After the phone discussion, I received an invitation to come for a job interview. Soon after the interview, I was hired.

What has been the best memory of the summer?

One of the best memories from the summer is learning to understand the electrification drawings and doing electrification to complicated and large shipyard solutions.
